Just before the weekend, WordPress changed the default setting for the “notify me of follow-up comments via email” option.  I’m not sure if this was intentional or if it is a bug in the program, but what I can tell you is that the default is now a checkmark in this box.  If you are a WordPress user and tend to leave comments on the blogs you follow, this means you’re probably receiving an awful lot of comments you didn’t think you would.

  2. If, like me, you often forget to do this until after you’ve pressed the button to leave you comment, try this:
    • From your WordPress dashboard, click on the Blogs I Follow link in the upper, left-hand corner.

Hello Canon, and all readers: The way to fix this is to:

    1. Go into your blog’s Dashboard.
    2. Go to the final settings change you can make, right at the bottom on the lefthand side, called SETTINGS.
    3. Choose Discussion.
    4. Just above the AVATARS setting on that page, there are three checkboxes regarding Comments and following the blog. Uncheck ALL those boxes.
    5. Save your changes.
    6. Then view your blog after a few seconds, try to make a comment, and you should see that there are no more tickboxes re following/reading others’ comments.
    Try that!
    Cheers!
